This Summer's Dress Code

Jeanswest, your summer wardrobe decoded.

By teaming playful prints in tops and dresses with soft vintage inspired prints the Jeanswest summer range is gorgeous and girlie.

Retro styling is showing through with the slim flare a key style for summer, though if you are a skinny, bootcut or straight leg fan then don't despair these styles are still ever-relevant, on trend and certainly not going away any time soon.

A great easy care, fun cute range that is truly affordable too.

Jill & Ange

The Jill & Ange label was launched in Australia in 1996 by two sisters Jillian and Angela Thompson. The label had a humble beginning with the first pieces, a small collection of summer cotton dresses, being sold around the Sydney market scene.

Thereafter Jill & Ange was picked up by retailers and eventually stocked in Melbourne and Sydney, at resort areas throughout Queensland and at SagHarbour in the USA. After living and working in Sydney for many years, Jillian and Angela returned home to New Zealand in 2001 with their families. At their workshop in the Waikato they design and make unique clothing often inspired by a Maori / Celtic heritage.   The Jill & Ange label is creative lifestyle clothing, easy to wear & care for, very today yet timeless style and a fine quality product to enjoy this year and thereafter.

Sequins and Sand

All you need is one or two quality hours to get organised to go away on summer holiday. Your swimwear is a bit saggy, your sunnies scratched and bent beyond recognition and you really would like to freshen up your summer wardrobe with a few pieces to get you in the holiday mood and mark the occasion in style.

But…by the time the kids are asleep and your work is finally done, the shops are probably closed - that's if you've some to choose from!

Sequins & Sand is here for you. We are busy women, we are always summer and we are 24x7. Whether you're a working girl, a mum or both the very objective of Sequins & Sand is to ensure that those precious weeks you set aside each year are truly memorable, relaxed and you look good and feel great.

Let’s face it, the most important time to look your best is when you are wearing the least! Sequins & Sand is here to provide a practical and stylish answer to the ‘bed to beach, beach to bar’ dilemma.

During our hectic and ever changing lives, many of us sometime lose our ‘mojo’ (yes…others do too!) eagerly trying to re-discover what looks good on us. Take a peak at ‘Buy a Look’ which will hopefully offer some inspiration and set you on your way again. Don’t want to have to think about what you need to get together to go away, then ‘Packing List’ might just be your ticket to the perfect summer break.  www.sequinsandsand.com.au

Shikoba - Clothe Yourself In Inspiration

Shikoba clothing truly has a style all its own. Founder Aroha Wikotu strives to create one of a kind designs that signify a departure from the trend of storytelling through a fashion range in favour of an expression of functional extremes.

Perhaps one of the most distinctive elements of Shikoba's range is that garments merge the partition between day and evening wear and eliminate any dictation of where and when a garment can be worn. The clothing adapts to different social environments and backdrops, a simple change of accessory can be all it takes to make the transformation and the confident feminine profile is never lost.

One of the freshest fashion ranges from one of New Zealand's newest and most exciting designers, Shikoba is an organic homegrown label inspired by the raw and unique beauty of New Zealand's natural environment. Focusing on classic and simple designs teamed with vibrant colours, rich textures and attractive prints the Shikoba range is unique, fresh and sophisticated yet retains a youthful edge.

About The Designer Aroha Wikotu

Aroha means love and is an apt name for the creator of Shikoba clothing. Aroha Wikotu interweaves love into each Shikoba garment love of her craft, love of her homeland inspiration and love of clothing her patrons in confidence and style.

Naturally gifted in the art of clothing design, Aroha was born to create. Having always dreamed of becoming a designer, she began designing clothes at the tender age of 13. After giving birth to her first child, Aroha seized the opportunity to establish her life niche and founded Shikoba clothing.

Cultural heritage is a huge source of inspiration for Aroha who is of Whakatohea descent and a strong sense of whakapapa and whanau. The strong sense of self that her own heritage gives Aroha drives her desire to create clothes that provide the same confidence, self-assuredness and sense of being unique to women of all ages.

Arohas clothing range is characterised by a unique independence and individuality that stems from her vast source of inspiration the diversely beautiful backdrops of New Zealand. Shikoba clothing shares a strong relationship with New Zealand's natural environment which influences Aroha's style creation, fabric and texture choice to deliver an organic range with edgy sophistication. As Aroha describes it:

"Everything around me comes into my designs. My clothing is inspired by the world around me in natural New Zealand. A feature or panorama will form an idea then its translation into a garment just flows. It's a creative process that is close to my heart I'm proud that my range is entirely New Zealand made. Our is a uniquely beautiful country in so many ways that's what sets us apart from the rest of the world and in the same way I design the Shikoba range to express that distinctiveness and rarity which can't be imitated. Shikoba speaks to a pride in who and where we are, a sense of being one of kind that's what I want those who wear the clothing to get a sense of."

Grace Merino

Grace has been designed for women that want the most out of life.

We are body conscious, not always body perfect.

So we want flattering and easy wearing styles that compliment our busy lives.

The Grace designs are all about effortless style and classic elegance to carry us through all the hours of the day.

Keucke

Mercedes Start up 2006 winner Veronica Keucke draws inspiration from quadrants of design history as diverse as sixties futurism, 1940s glamour, Bauhaus architecture and comic book conflict, wrapping them up in a staunch style that is wholly her own.

Keucke collections always begin with a strong narrative base, working with themes of women and nature. Using mainly natural fibres the garments are functional, vibrant and empowering to the wearer. An emphasis on curved design lines creates harmony with the figure and flatters the female form.

With a string of new stockists and a growing number of successful shows under her belt we can expect to see a lot more from this designer in the future.

Charmaine Reveley

Garments have delicate detailing, beautiful finishing and an old world beauty and charm. Charmaine's background and passion for art is reflected through her use of prints and images. Prints are always a strong element of her conceptional collections and often feature nature and environmental themes.  Visit www.charmainereveley.co.nz for more information.
